What the Blue Flag Actually Means

The certification behind the name — the criteria a beach must meet, every single season.

The Blue Flag is one of the world's most recognized eco-labels for beaches and marinas, awarded by the Foundation for Environmental Education (FEE). To fly it, a beach must meet a strict set of criteria across water quality, environmental management, safety, and services — and it must re-qualify every season.
